If you want to celebrate national Hispanic Heritage Month in the United States, a great way to do that is with flags of Spanish-speaking countries. I have found that many of my middle school and high school students aren’t familiar with Hispanic countries or the countries’ flags. This is a great, educational way to introduce color vocabulary with the flag colors as well as Latin and South American country flags. Let’s look at these Hispanic Heritage Month flags coloring pages!
Hispanic Heritage Month Celebrations
National Hispanic Heritage Month in the United States begins on September 15th through October 15th. It is a great way to celebrate contributions of Hispanic people, Latino communities, practice cultural awareness, and recognize diverse cultures. Many communities host cultural events to celebrate Latino Americans and Hispanic Americans with different Hispanic Heritage Month activities.
Just a reminder that Latino usually refers to people who come from Latin America, while Hispanic is commonly used to describe those who come from or have family ties to a Spanish-speaking country, or a country where Spanish is an official language. This can be quite personal, so just remember to pay attention to how different people describe themselves so we can respect that!
