I know many of us plan units around a topic, theme, or studying a particular country so today I wanted to share with you a few Spain activities for the classroom! Just a quick note, there are so many amazing options out there, I tried to gather as many as I could, but if there’s something I’m missing, please feel free to drop a comment to help other teachers as they are planning!

Make sure you check out these amazing authors and creators to see what they have shared!

- The Stress Free Spanish Teacher
Learn About Spain Through Reading
Just a head’s up – I haven’t read all of these, but I have read books by these authors that have been amazing!! The ones I have not read myself I found recommended in a Spanish teachers’ group online, from others who have used them. It’s always a good idea to preview a book before adding it to your library with your specific classroom and learners in mind!
Spain Activities for the Classroom – Watch and learn!
As always, I’d recommend watching these before showing them to your students. Just because it’s a good fit for one classroom doesn’t mean it’s a perfect fit everywhere! I’ve also tried to list where they can be found now, but we know the internet is always changing on us, so hopefully if they’re not on that host any longer it might be found through a quick Google!
- Dreaming Spanish – This is an entire YouTube channel, but there are SO many good videos!
- Spanish After Hours – Also an entire channel, but she also has a ton of great options!
Add Some Sizzle with Spanish Culture
Ready to turn your classroom into a mini Spain adventure? Let’s talk about one of my all-time favorite activities — a Spanish Tapas Party. Wait, scratch that. Let’s talk about one of my all-time favorite classroom moments. A Spanish Tapas Party! No need to be a chef. Just grab some tasty favorites like olives, manchego cheese, churros with chocolate, and pan con tomate. Set up tasting stations and let your students become food critics for the day. They can vote for their favorite snack and guess where in Spain each one comes from. Add some music and suddenly your classroom feels like a cozy Spanish plaza.
Want to make it even more unforgettable? Introduce flamenco with a quick video and let your students try out the basic moves or hand clapping rhythms. Some will be shy. Others will go full-on flamenco superstar. Either way, they will remember this one forever. High energy and high engagement with zero boredom.
Projects They Will Actually Brag About
Let’s be honest. Not every project gets students talking about your class at lunch. But this one? Total winner. Have students create travel brochures for different regions of Spain. Each group becomes the ultimate expert on one area like Catalonia, Andalusia, or the Basque Country. They research food, traditions, fun facts, and famous people, then present it like they are pitching the best vacation of your life. When it is time to share, set up the classroom like a travel fair and let them explore each other’s regions. It is hands-on learning that feels more like fun than work.
Still want to keep the fun going? Try a game of Spain Culture Bingo. Create boards with squares like heard Spanish music today, learned about Picasso, or said a Spanish phrase out loud. It is an easy way to encourage participation and celebrate every little cultural connection along the way. Plus, students secretly love crossing things off bingo boards.
