If you are teaching a culture class or novice classes, it’s not unlikely that you’ll spend some time working with your students on a map of the Spanish speaking world! After all, it never ceases to amaze me how geography skills need some work in our classes. It’s hard to appreciate the culture of a country without even knowing where it is located!

Map of the Spanish Speaking World Free Download

This map of countries that speak Spanish pdf comes with several pages of activities! It includes:

  • labeling the countries that speak Spanish on the map
  • regions of the world and placing the Spanish-speaking countries within them
  • fill in the blank of the capitals
  • answer keys

All of the pages are included with the countries’ names in Spanish or English, and there are variations with and without the United States as a Spanish-speaking country. This is great if you want to teach about the countries that speak Spanish IN Spanish. Choose which variations are best for your classes!

Creative Ways to Use a Map of the Spanish Speaking World

Once you hand out your map of Spanish-speaking countries, the real fun begins. Instead of treating it like a quick worksheet, turn it into an interactive adventure. Try a “Where in the World?” warm-up where you call out facts like, “This country celebrates Carnaval in February” or “You’ll find llamas roaming here” and students race to point to the right spot on their maps.

Want to take it up a notch? Pair up students and have them quiz each other using only the capital cities. Bonus points if they can answer in Spanish. These low-prep mini-games help cement the geography while sneaking in vocabulary and culture in a way that feels like a game, not a quiz. A labeled map of Spanish-speaking countries can be turned into a class poster too, and students can add sticky notes with fun facts they learn about each place throughout the year.

Map of Spanish-Speaking Countries Virtual Field Trips

One of my favorite ways to include geography throughout the semester is virtual field trips! You can use these to introduce a country before a unit of study, while digging into a cultural celebration, or exploring traditions around the world!

I have created virtual field trips for you on a wide variety of countries and topics! Check them out below!

Keep It Fresh with Seasonal Tie-Ins

A great way to revisit the map of Spanish-speaking countries is to tie it to cultural celebrations throughout the year. When Día de los Muertos comes around, challenge students to locate Mexico and jot down a few customs tied to the holiday. Celebrating La Tomatina? Head to Spain on your classroom map. This keeps geography active and relevant rather than something they forget after one quiz.

Virtual field trips are the perfect way to bring it all to life. Once they find a country on the map, send them off on a quick digital journey to explore food, music, holidays, and even landscapes. These activities give students real-world context for what they see on the page. It’s not just about knowing where Venezuela is. It’s about understanding what makes Venezuela vibrant and unique.
