I love virtual field trips! They are a great way to engage students and teach them so much important and interesting information. It’s very low prep for me but is impactful for students. Wesley P. –
My students really liked the variety shown in Easter and Holy Week celebrations. We were able to discuss as a class the great importance of Semana Santa outside of the United States and kids were shocked to learn that in some countries most people, including adults get the week off! Some of the pictures didn’t show, but I’m pretty sure it was the device I was using. Thanks for a great “field trip”!
profeprofeprofe –
Great low prep activity to use right before spring break or the day after! Used the English version with my exploratory kids. Made for great discussion on differences/comparisons. They were super engaged and wanted to share what they learned after we were done. Great for those days when you need a hands off day of teaching!
Amanda A. –
I used this interactive map for the last day of class before Spring Break…perfect as Easter was the Sunday at the end of break and holy week took place during the break. Students worked quietly all period and had plenty to do. They seemed to enjoy the links and videos and were able to find answers to the questions with little help. I was able to catch up on grading (desperately needed!) because they were busy learning and engaged without needing me too much. One thing I recommend doing is to have students turn to face the back wall with their laptops so you can see their screens at all times. I tried this and it gave them accountability throughout the period. My only critique of the resource is that the alfombra video was a little old and pixelated…there are newer and better videos out there that might have given them a better picture of how they look in real life.
Katja D. –
Very interesting and easy to use. The students are very interested of culture invotera countries.

I love virtual field trips because students get to “see” places they’ll probably never actually go. During my unit on celebrations I offered this as one of several virtual field trip options so students could choose the holidays they were most interested in to explore more. I would never have had the time to put multiple of these together in order to offer them choices, so I’m thankful for well-made resources like this one to allow me to do that!

Ashley Mikkelsen –
Hi there! It sounds like a technology issue, and that shouldn’t prevent you from using the resource, so let’s figure it out! First, if you were at school, did you verify that your school allows access to Google My Maps? Did you try the links on different wifi to test that out? There is also the page of notes with a few suggestions in the resource that could be helpful! Please feel free to reach out to my email (in the resource) so I can help you resolve the issue.
Brenda K. –
I thought this was well done – I liked the information and I love that the map is attached. Some of the pictures are no longer working on the site. I also didn’t like the title of the video in Sevilla – the title “KKK or la Semana Santa caused a little confusion with the internet filters in the school. We could use it, but they had to click past it. I chose to explain about the hats and tunics with a short 3:30 minute video I found that explained the costumes better and didn’t make my students get the wrong idea. Thank you for your time and effort putting this all together. My students finished it in about 25-30 minutes.
