Description
Let your students explore cultural traditions around the world! Content is discovered via an interactive Google Map through images, short readings, and videos! Time saver for you and engaging for students!
Students read, watch, and explore using the Google Map, then record information on the graphic organizer and answer comprehension questions. This activity is great for reinforcing geography while learning about culture! It would also be a great sub plan.
Included Resources:
- La Tomatina
- Carnaval
- Navidad – English Version
- Navidad – Spanish Version
- Cinco de Mayo
- Semana Santa – Spanish Version
- Semana Santa – English Version
- Day of the Dead
Answer keys are included!
Students will need devices and access to the internet to be able to use the map. The videos are hosted on YouTube. Please verify that your school allows access to Google My Maps and YouTube before purchase to be able to fully utilize this resource.

I loved this activity for my students. It was a fun way for them to learn about different Spanish speaking countries, and for them to explore different Spanish speaking countries. My students really enjoyed being able to work on their own and at their own pace.
Señorita Spanglish –
Amazing resource! Whenever I have to be out I usually leave one of these and my students always really enjoy them!
Alexandra T. –
My students love these interactive maps. I like to use them as sub plans or for a day when I need to get some work done but still want students to be engaged with the culture. I have found that my students like the self-paced activities and the facts they learn sometimes come up in class at a later date!
Bethany G. –
I love these digital activities. They really help with geography and understanding where each tradition takes place.

Such a fun idea and I am glad there is now a Spanish and English version! Some things are a little hard to navigate and find for my kiddos but it’s probably also good for them to work on those problem-solving skills! Thanks for making and sharing!
Sidney C. –
It was a great idea, but kind of hard to work… additionally, it wasn’t as interesting to interact with… some of the facts didn’t really seem important and others seemed like there should have been a lot more information included. The top link of the worksheet does not work and many of the videos and pictures were not available.
Ashley Mikkelsen –
Hi Sidney! Could you give me some more information? As this is a bundle of activities, I’m not sure which link is not working for you. If you haven’t yet, please double-check that you made a copy of the map for your students (the instructions are in the PDF download) and that that is the version of the handout you’re assigning. If you have questions you can always shoot me an email at srtaspanishtpt@gmail.com. I hope that helps!

Brittany N. –
Fun activity for cultural exploration.
Tina Davis –
My students with Chromebooks were unable to play the videos. We ended up doing the projects together on the Smart Board so that they could view the videos. They enjoyed the projects, but there wasn’t as much autonomy because they were unable to watch the videos by themselves.
Good product overall.
Ashley Mikkelsen –
Hi Tina! Does your school block YouTube? That could be why! Feel free to shoot me an email at srtaspanishtpt@gmail.com if you need any help!
Annette López –
Love it!

My students are mostly from midwest US and their knowledge of geography is lacking (sadly). This is a fun way to sneak in a subject that could be boring!
