I really thank you for making this excellent resource, however, I wished I could take it back; I teach 9th graders and one of the songs have knives and a gun. My district will not allow us to use this in any classroom. I am willing to use it this if you would be kind enough to maybe replace some of these songs? or take them out altogether. I don’t know how to edit it since it is in a PDF format.
Thank you.
Ashley Mikkelsen –
Hi Dale!
Did you not see my response to the Q&A you submitted? There are instructions in your PDF download for how to edit the map to change any songs you would like for your setting. Please shoot me an email at ashley@srtaspanish.com if you need additional support with that. Thank you!

I used this resource after students had learned a little about several of the musicians featured in this virtual field trip. I especially liked the page where students record the artist name, nationality, a song and their rating of how well they liked it. This was a fun end-of-semester activity that I used with my Spanish 2 students. I actually created my own activity for them to complete, but having the interactive map already created to use was well worth the cost of purchase. There were a few video links that weren’t working when students went to use it, but I just directed them to either choose another musician or look them up on YouTube. It worked out fine! I liked giving them exposure to different kinds of music from different parts of the world and helping them to understand that “Spanish music” is not a monolith.

Sydney Altizer –
I like this resource, but I removed several of the videos. For a new teacher in a conservative area with students currently learning at home, I am worried several of these could get me into trouble. The second music video for Camilla Cabello has a body builder woman almost naked in lingerie and you can see her entire backside. The Polache one has close-ups of of women shaking their butts in bikinis. Two others that I didn’t feel comfortable with include the Shakira one due to the women wearing outfits that resembled Victoria Secret angel outfits, and there was another one that I deleted but didn’t write the name down (it had cartoon characters but at one point there were characters carrying a gun and knife). I hope this helps save someone else some time so you don’t have to spend so much time looking through to check all the videos.
