Description

This activity is perfect for your novice Spanish students!

Students will view an interactive Google Map with markers on countries where famous Spanish-speakers are from.

When they click on a map marker, they will see a short description, in Spanish, along with pictures for each person. There is a worksheet to go along with the map that you can either print off or share to your students digitally.

The worksheet asks students to identify cognates in the descriptions, match the people to their nationalities, then respond to a few short answer questions about the people on the map.

This is a great way to embed some technology and geography into your lesson, while focusing on nationalities and saying where people are from in Spanish!

Please note – Students will need devices and access to the internet to be able to use the map. The videos are hosted on YouTube. Please verify that your school allows access to Google My Maps and YouTube before purchase to be able to fully utilize this resource.

    This rocks! We just got Chromebooks at the end of the school year, so we only used them one time. Next year, I’m starting off Day 1 with Google Classroom. I really have NO clue what I’m doing, so I’m going to spend the summer learning all about it. This activity is definitely going to be one of the first ones that I do with Spanish 1. I love it! I just went through all of it myself…I’m excited about the pics and Shakira videos, too. 🙂 I’m sure it’s super easy because you have done it a bunch, but I would have no clue how to even go about to creating a map activity, so I really appreciate it!!
