Description

This version of the resource includes options! There is a complete version of the activity in Spanish and English! There are two interactive maps included, as well as two sets of the graphic organizer and comprehension questions. Mix and match languages to suit the needs of your students! The maps explore a variety of countries and people. This activity is great for reinforcing geography while learning about culture! It would also be a great sub plan.

Students will need devices and access to the internet to be able to use the map. The videos are hosted through YouTube. Please verify that your school allows access to Google Maps and YouTube before purchase.

    This had such beautiful, unique and engaging resources. The students were amazed to see the geography-historical and cultural connections with this interactive activity. It’s our favorite every year and an incredible resource for highschoolers to feel represented and learn an enormous amount of culture in the target language and I use it every year to engage students when they need a Spanish reading activity for Black History Month. It is versatile for all students during this time. They completely loved it and all felt culturally and racially represented within the figures impacts!

    I love the concept, but I was hoping for an assignment that was a little meatier by including Afro-Latinos and also more cultural information about Afro-Latino history in general. I guess I should have read the the description better! If this ever gets updated, I would recommend some of these changes.

I even made a copy of this, as the author suggested and it still didn’t work for some students; but it’s an awesome resource, it inspired me to create/make my own maps for my Spanish classes.

    I LOVE this resource. I did an entire culture unit based on afro-latinos as our student population is majority caucasian students. We used this as our end of unit in-class assignment and the students were pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to complete as well as how interesting a lot of the information was! However, one of the people has their description in Spanish so for my Spanish 1’s I had to translate, but other than that it was awesome and so easy to use. I definitely recommend!!
