Miss Barrett’s Spanish Class –
I was able to use this with my 8th graders and had them create a presentation based on a famous Afrolatino person. This was perfect to help them understand more about the people since they often struggle with the fact that a person can be both Latino and Black. It fit very well in my Spanish class as a great activity to celebrate Black History Month.

Students were into this. My school has a majority of African American students. It was nice to tie in African and Latino culture.

Designed For Journalism –
I love the posters the students could use to research famous Afro Latinos, we posted them in the hall and our admin loved it. The short readings are always great, no matter the topic. They’re comprehensible and include vocabulary supports for new/big words. Since there are several activities in the bundle too, it can keep us busy throughout the month instead of only talking about Black History for one day.

Very useful
Sra Pringle Spanish Resources –
I was so grateful for the thoroughness of this resource. Unfortunately, it is not age-appropriate for 6th and 7th graders. The model in the interactive Google Map wears a very revealing top throughout her entire interview and references her boobs. There is also a song called “Te Ves Buena” by El General which is largely about a woman’s body. I wouldn’t recommend this resource for middle school children, only highschoolers.
Ashley Mikkelsen –
Hey Hannah!
I’m sorry to hear that particular activity wasn’t a good fit for that age range. I usually try to make a note whenever I link to music or videos to preview the content for your age group because I know that it can vary between ages and school settings and I will double-check that I have that note in this resource. Good news is though (and hopefully you saw this) that resource you’re describing has instructions for how to make a copy for your own Drive, which would allow you to edit or remove anything you didn’t want to share with your students, or replace the video with something that you feel is better suited to their age level! I will be sure to check the age description for the bundle as well to make that clearer for anyone else in the future. Thanks so much for your feedback!

Like all your resources, I LOVED this one! Not only did it include many afrolatinx, but it allowed for a visual of where these individuals are from! I can’t wait to be able to fully use this resource once we are back in the classroom.
