Description
Scrambled sentences are a great way to get your students thinking and talking about the language collaboratively! Groups or partners work together to reassembled the scrambled sentence while working on the targeted structures. This file includes instructions on how to use this game, and a few variations for you as well. One variation is a quick review that will take about 15 minutes, the other version can take up to 40 minutes with in-depth critical thinking about syntax and word order.
10 different sentences to practice IR A INFINITIVE are included!
There are also student answer sheets included, as well as a version that comes pre-scrambled, in case you’d prefer to have your students cut out the words to reduce your prep time!

I have struggled for years to find an engaging way to teach ir + a + infinitive and this was the key. Unhappy with what I had planned for the day, I purchased this lesson at the last minute. I had a surprise observation that day and it could not have gone better thanks to this activity. My administrator loved watching the students work together to build their skills. The activity is the perfect practice for students being introduced to this topic. Thank you!

This was good practice for my students with ir + a + infintive concept, which is something they’ve been struggling with. It was nice to have the cards to lay out so they could fix their mistakes instead of having to erase and rewrite.

Great resource! I love that there are so many different ways in which this activity can be done and allows for differentiation or station work. This is a great way to “sneak” in reading comprehension and grammar at the same time while reaching students who need a more tactile experience.

My students loved this activity! When I had introduced the concept before the activity, they were having a hard time with this structure and it’s clear that it clicked for a lot of my students after completing this in groups.
