I used this when tutoring an 8th grade Spanish II student who has just started to learn the imperfect. I first had the student read the English translation and decide if the sentence would be in the preterite or imperfect. Then I had him unscramble the sentence. A nice, hands-on activity.

I love using scrambled sentences, since it is very kinethstetic. I have students do them in groups and have them work together in pairs. I was only doing the preterite, so I just used the preterite flashcards. I had purchased a blank set previously, so I made some sentences of my own based on a movie we had seen in class.

Scrambled sentences gets my students out of their seats for the movement they need, and keeps them learning in a collaborative way.
