- Students research and share facts over announcments
Volunteer with Community Members
In her post here, Catharyn Crane mentions that her students volunteered several times a year at our local St. Vincent de Paul’s evening meal program with Spanish-speaking members. I have a co-worker who used to take her club to a local church to work with French speaking members for her francophone class! Reach out to a local church or non-profit to see if there is a need in your community!
Student-Curated Playlist
Have your Spanish club members create a playlist of their favorite Spanish music. Then, work with administration to play their finished playlist over the loud speaker!
Not sure where to start with appropriate music? Give them a playlist from one of the past music tournaments to sift through!
Organize a Food Truck Day
Courtney Nygaard at Profe Nygaard shared in a guest post here how she organized a food truck day for her classes. She breaks it down into ten simple steps for you to plan your own food truck event for your Spanish club students!
Host a Movie Night
Okay, it really doesn’t have to be night time. After school is perfect so you can get to bed on time! Have students bring snacks or have officers pick some up. Check out this list of movies from Spanish Mama for some ideas of titles you could choose!
Play Trivia with your Spanish Club
Game night, anyone? Here is a set of print and go or post and go trivia questions to play! Break up your club members into teams, throw a score board on your whiteboard and go to town. This set has 100 questions so you won’t run out!
Music Bracket Competition
If you’re familiar with the March music tournaments, this will be a snap. Put the bracket up on a board and have members vote on a Google Form. Check out this one from Mis Clases Locas for a ready to go resource!
Take Over Announcements
If your admin is up for it, have your Spanish club members do a little “takeover” of the announcements throughout the month! They can either read the announcements and then share a related fact, or just hop on the speaker for one fact at the end. Start this off as a Spanish club event by having students research and brainstorm short interesting facts to share.
