Part of the learning process is helping Spanish students know that which word they hear or see might depend on which Spanish-speaking country they are in. They might see or hear new words than what they have seen before, and that’s okay!
Why Use Word Walls
There are several reasons to use word walls in your Spanish classes. They are the perfect way to reinforce your students’ Spanish learning while decorating your classrooms.
Check out several reasons to use word walls in your classes:
- Provide visual scaffolding
- Support students’ connecting the language that they hear and what the word looks like
- Reinforce vocabulary words
They also help remind teachers to go slow when providing comprehensible input to students because you can take your time, walk over to the poster, point, and pause. You can give students time to process and utilize the classroom decorations for their language acquisition! This is great for an immersive learning experience. As you’re directing your students to use school supplies, you aid in their language learning and make sure they’re grabbing the right school supplies.
Spanish School Supplies Bulletin Board
At the start of each school year, a simple bulletin board you can use is this classroom display. You can also use it during your school unit as students are working with new school supplies vocabulary. Post the pictures and words as a visual reference for students and as an easy display for you to point to as you tell your students what they need to be prepared for your lesson!
The posters include a colorful image as well as the Spanish nouns in clear, bold font. Use the word wall as reference for your students while you’re setting up an activity together!
