How to Add Fonts on Your Google Drive
If you find any fonts you like, you need to know how to use them! Here’s the quick step by step:
- First, click the name of the font from your tool bar.
- Select “More Fonts” from the drop down menu.
- If you know the name of the font you want, click the search bar and type in the name.
- You can also scroll through the list to find new fonts you want to try!
- Just click a font to add it to your list of fonts.
When you’re done with a font, you can remove it from your font categories list by selecting the “X” from that same menu. Check out a quick tutorial here!
5 Font Options for Personal Use on Google Drive
- Chango
- Eater
- Frijole
- Metal Mania
- Spicy Rice

These are all fun fonts you can choose for your Day of the Dead lesson! The reason why I like to use special free fonts when creating lessons for holidays and celebrations is to help the lesson stand out and be more engaging for students. Plus, it’s more fun!
5 Font Options for Use on Canva
Just a quick note – this includes a mix of free and premium font options. While I usually only would share free Día de los Muertos font options with you, since Canva has the option for educators to receive a free premium membership I thought it would be okay. I will denote which are free and which are premium at the time of writing this post to help you choose from from the popular fonts!
- Lucky Bones
- Rye
- Sancreek
- Rumble Brave *premium
- Cheddar Gothic Serif *premium

If you prefer to create in Canva for your lessons, these are great, beautiful fonts for your Slides and handouts. Just remember, these are not the best options for your body text! Rather, use them sparingly as your headers or titles to keep things new & fresh, but make sure you’re using font that your students can easily read and decode in the main pieces of your lessons. This is more decorative!
Font Color
Now that you have some great options for Day of the Dead fonts, I would also encourage you to think about font color! I personally love taking inspiration from marigolds for my Day of the Dead slides. Check out this example:
