Scrambled sentences are a great way to get your students thinking and talking about the language collaboratively! Groups or partners work together to reassemble the scrambled sentence while working on the targeted structures. 1. Natalie M. –

This was a helpful hands-on resource for my Spanish II students learning daily routine and how reflexive verbs work.

  2. Mary K. –

Students have to think but they are supported in a fun game. I watched some of my struggling students start to make sense of reflexive verbs a little more.

  3. Jessica L. –

I love doing the scrambled sentences in class as the students can move around. And can be used over multiple class periods. This particular one did a great job to remind students on how to conjugate reflexive verbs.

  4. LaProfePheobe –

This activity was GREAT practice on reflexive verbs for my students. It required them to apply the grammar concept with precision and offered them the opportunity to think through their answers and check their work. It was also a great formative assessment for me to see how well my students actually knew the concept. (If you do this work in teams do NOT give the teams all of the sentences all at once or students will not work in teams on all the sentences but will just each work on 1 or 2 sentences. It worked much better for me once I realized I needed to give each team one sentence at a time.)

  5. Autumn C. –

Great for upper level Spanish students to review those tricky reflexives

  6. Esmeralda A. –

    Excellent resource!

  9. Entre Lineas –

Great resource, students really enjoyed it and I did as well!

  10. Caroline W. –

This resource is great for working on sentence structure. However, I realized that my students needed more practice with me before they were able to do it independently. If you’ve already been teaching sentence structure, your students will probably excel! If you haven’t, I encourage you to practice it before using the resource!

  11. Exploring el mundo –

This was a great addition to our daily routines unit!

  12. Noemi S. –

Physically moving the words to the correct order helped many of my students who were struggling with what goes where.

  14. Señora la exploradora –

The lesson came with clear, step-by-step instructions that made it easy for me to facilitate the class. It was evident that the creator put a lot of thought into ensuring that educators could use the lesson effectively.

  15. Catherine L. –

These sentence scrambles were really helpful in showing me areas of difficulty for my students. I can see them thinking through the correct order and the hands-on aspect is more engaging. Thanks!

  16. Emily Wangenheim –

This really helped my students feel successful in our class! 🙂

  17. Lara S. –

My students enjoyed doing a more hands on activity and physically building sentences. They found this activity challenging, but that was because we completed it quite early on in the unit. Students worked in small teams to put these together and once checked, wrote these sentences down.

  18. Angela McCorkle Montiel –

  21. Maria M. –

This was an engaging way to practice the reflexive verbs as well as vocabulary. My students really enjoyed this activity.

  22. Abbey C. –

This was a great activity and my students did really well with it. Although, on sentence 7 it says “lavo” for “I brush”. “Lavo” = “I wash”. “Cepillo” would be the correct verb to use when talking about brushing teeth. So I did have to go through and correct those. Also, on sentence, the answer key has “mientras que” at the start of the sentence, even though it gives it in the middle of the given English sentence. Other than these two things I had to correct to avoid confusion for my students, it’s a great resource!

    • Ashley Mikkelsen –

Hi Abbey! Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback. Using “lavarse” or “cepillarse” for brushing teeth is one of those regional things where both are correct – I didn’t even think about it being helpful to do, but maybe I could go add another version of that sentence for teachers to pick and choose which best suits the vocab they’re using with students, and I can take another look at that “mientras que” sentence as well. That’s a tricky one because often when I would do it with my own students I would accept it if they put it at the front or the middle, because it is technically just fine either way! I hope those points help, and I’ll add the second version of the sentence to my to do list. Thanks for your feedback!

  23. Sarah W. –

I always love scrambled sentences for differences in word order between English and Spanish, but I especially love it for Reflexive verbs so that they get in practice with their reflexive pronouns and learning the different between reflexive and subject pronouns!

  24. Amanda S. –

This was a good practice. I had some groups of students who finished quickly and it was easy for them. Other groups took a bit more time. But it made all the groups think carefully about sentence structure.
