Earth Day Activities for Novices

There are tons of great things you can do with your novice students for Earth Day in Spanish class! La Misi de Español has a beautiful Earth Day Agamograph! She says, “An agamograph is an art form where two images merge into one, depending on your viewing angle!”. It’s so cool, your students will love making it! Click here to check it out!

Another one of the Earth day activities for Spanish class you can choose from is this classroom display! Students respond to a prompt asking them how they care for the Earth, then their work is hung in a big classroom display! If you wanted to extend this lesson, you might first show them this video of kids around the world sharing how they help to protect the environment! Then, your students could brainstorm their own ideas before adding to the classroom display!

Upper Levels

Looking for an Earth Day Activity for your higher level Spanish class? Allison Wienhold at Mis Clases Locas and Carrie Toth at Somewhere to Share both have great resources to check out! These cultural stations from Allison are a great supplement to Robo en la Noche or Noche de Oro by Kristy Placido.

Carrie Toth has so many amazing units that are both cross-curricular and focused on the environment! Click here to check out the whole bundle so you can see what she has to share.

More Earth Day Fun for Spanish Class

Looking to level up your Earth Day lesson plans? Bring in some authentic resources from the Spanish-speaking world. Try showing short videos, simple infographics, or kid-friendly articles that highlight how other countries celebrate Earth Day or care for the planet. Your students will love seeing real-life examples while picking up useful vocabulary. Pair the content with some quick questions, a chat in pairs, or even a class poll. It is a fun and natural way to practice reading and listening skills while connecting with the bigger picture. Plus, it adds a burst of cultural flavor that makes your lesson feel fresh and exciting.

Make It Real and Memorable

Want to keep students engaged while making an impact? Have them create colorful posters or mini digital projects with eco-friendly tips in Spanish. Display them around your classroom or school to spread the word. You can even challenge students to complete a mini green goal during the week, like using less paper or picking up trash after lunch. Let them write about it in Spanish and share their reflections. It is a great way to add Earth Day activities for Spanish class and turn vocab into real-life action. Your students will feel proud of what they’ve learned and how they’re using it to help the Earth.
