Teaching is always difficult, but teaching in the middle of a global pandemic is even harder! Teachers have suddenly found themselves recreating their curriculum to teach virtually, or their preps tripled with students in multiple settings. I created these Spanish Boom Cards Activities to help my students practice their Spanish and they have been fantastic!

Why I Love Boom Cards

There are a lot of reasons why I love Boom Cards! They’re very engaging for students, they’re self-checking, and it’s easy to incorporate reading, writing, listening, and digital manipulatives! We started using Boom Cards during the shift to distance learning and they were a game-changer!

I love using Boom Cards alongside whatever we’re working on in class. If we’re in a vocab-heavy unit, I’ll grab a deck that matches our theme. If we’re diving into grammar, there’s always a set ready for that too. Ways to Mix It Up With Spanish Boom Cards Activities

Let’s be real, even the best digital tools can start to feel a little tired if we use them the exact same way every time. That’s why I love switching things up with my Spanish Boom Cards Activities to keep students engaged and curious.

One fun twist is turning a Boom deck into a partner challenge. One student is the “reader,” the other is the “clicker,” and then they swap roles. Suddenly, it’s a friendly competition and they’re laser focused, trying to beat their previous score without even realizing how much Spanish practice they’re getting.

Another way I love to use Spanish Boom Cards Activities is during centers. I’ll set up one station with a Boom deck, another with a speaking task, and a third with something hands-on. It gives them variety, keeps the energy up, and gives me time to work with small groups without losing momentum in the room.

And yes, I still keep a few of those fast finisher links ready to go. When someone wraps up early and needs something purposeful to do, a quick Boom deck is my go-to. It’s quiet, effective, and they actually enjoy it.

How to Play

Each deck has a variety of activities! Students complete a variety of reading, writing, listening, multiple choice questions, fill in the blank, and drag and drop type activities to show their comprehension and skills!

Students can use the decks over and over to practice, and you can assign new decks to them as they’re ready for a new skill!
