Description
Students will love coloring this reading activity! Students read a passage that emphasizes ar verbs, especially “yo”, “ella”, and “nosotros” forms. Then they “code” the reading according to the key. Finally, students answer comprehension questions regarding the passage and targeted structures. The comprehension questions are in English and offer options for students to show more than just what the questions asked! Give your students the chance to go above and beyond!
Included:
- 1 Page reading targeting school vocabulary
- Color coding activity to highlight specific verb forms
- Comprehension Questions
- Answer Key for comprehension questions
- Print and go PDF
- Google Doc version
This resource is available both as a Google Doc and a print and go PDF file. You can save it to your Drive and share it with your students via Google Classroom, or other Google Apps, OR you can print the activity and have them do it with markers!
The reading includes:
- School vocabulary
- AR Verbs
- Some family vocabulary (sister, twin, parents)
++Vocabulary support in the form of footnotes
This would also make a great sub plan!

I have to admit that teaching my students about school vocabulary in school is one of my least favorite things to do. This activity was fun for my students and myself! The coloring of the words, in fun colors, and the reminder that the school unit can be more than “Me gusta la clase de ciencias” was very helpful for my students. Sometimes as teachers, we need a new/different resource to spark a different idea to add to our unit and this resource did just that for me! I know it sounds silly, but it did! The questions on the back also helped to guide my students with their comprehension and it was very easy for them to complete since they had done so much color coding on the front! I would highly recommend this resource to other teachers. ?
