I never have a ton of time to spend on time, but I do want students to at least be familiar with it (and find that it is a good review of numbers as well.) This is a solid resource for them to practice the basics, and know immediately how they’re doing!

Thanks for the great resource! My kiddos loved using this during class.
Jennifer C. –
This was a great activity for my students – it focused their attention on the details (which they detest), but really got the repetition down that they needed for both numbers in general AND telling time. It worked particularly well in pairs/trios, though, as some of my solo crew got flustered when they couldn’t figure out the correct answers…

Thank you, it was really helpful to practice this concept.
Jessica C. –
These BOOM cards really hold students accountable to getting everything correct when telling time–right down to capital letters and periods. This is a great way to review both how to correctly give a time, and the numbers needed to tell time. Both my students and I love that it gives instant feedback so they know right away whether they have the concept down or not. Great resource!

This was a great resource for my students to practice telling time. I liked how it used iPhone screenshots, which is more relatable to the students. None of the cards were too hard, but they still challenged students. I would definitely recommend this!

Jaimie Hudson –
I loved the idea of these cards – it was my first experience with Boom Cards. There were just a couple little things that left my students a little frustrated. They got frustrated with the fact that they had to spell 16-19 and the 20’s a certain way. Many times it wouldn’t let them spell whichever way they wanted. For example, I tell them that they can spell 26 veinte y seis, or veintiséis, but many choose the first way because they find it easier. Therefore, many students didn’t know about the accent and got frustrated because it wouldn’t accept either form. From what I understand, there can be multiple accepted answers for each one? I just wish both spellings were accepted. Also, I realize punctuation is important, but having to include it with each card when I just wanted them to be able to focus on the time itself was kind of tedious. Other than that, I found it to be good practice.

Keila H. –
Some of the cards have wrong answers, my students were frustrated.
Ashley Mikkelsen –
Hi Keila! Could you please clarify?
Without having more information, I think what your students are seeing are the “multiple possible responses”. So, because Boom is a computer grading, I can input multiple correct responses and I do so to try and anticipate the different ways students may answer a question. For example, they might say “Son las dos y cincuenta y dos.” OR “Son las tres menos ocho”. This can sometimes be confusing for students because when they click “give up” they can see all of the variations I put in to make sure the word orders they could do are all accepted. Have you checked the reports to see what they’re typing at all? This spring, I had some of my students telling me the “computer was wrong” and when I asked them for specific cards and checked it they had been typing in misspellings (which the computer can’t account for) or just typing in gibberish like “lskadjfakj”, then clicking give up and seeing most of 1-2 of the “possible options” and thinking it was broken. It is difficult because of the computer grading – they have to get the answer just right, spelling and punctuation included, but I did try to anticipate almost every possibility they could do correctly for each of those cards!
I hope that makes sense. Feel free to shoot me an email at srtaspanishtpt@gmail.com and I can help you further if necessary!
