You can choose if you would like your students to do this ugly Christmas sweater drawing game in Spanish or in English, based on their level and if you’re using this in a homeroom or in your Spanish classes! It is flexible for you and your students.

How to Use the Ugly Christmas Sweater Drawing Sheets

First, students will use their Create Your Christmas Sweater handouts and die to roll the elements of their ugly sweater. Use the version in Spanish with or without the vocabulary labels, or the English version of the handout!

Next, students will draw their ugly (or cute!) Christmas sweater. Make sure to stress that they need to fill the space with color, patterns, and the shapes they’ve rolled! I’ve included an example for you to project or print for your students, as well.

Ugly Christmas Sweater Drawing Game

To play the game, students will first write a description of their ugly Christmas sweater drawing. You can have them use the handout, or just a sheet of paper!

Next, choose the sweaters and descriptions from your students you would like to play with. If you have multiple class periods doing this activity, I would just pull a few sweaters & descriptions from each class period. That way, you only have to prep it once!

Here’s how to set up the game:

  • Students roll and design their sweater
  • Students write a short description of their sweater
  • Label the sweaters with letters A-Z (continue with AA, BB if you have a class larger than 26)
  • Label the descriptions with numbers 1-X (however many you have!)
  • Fold over the names on the sweaters, then hang them around the room. Spread out descriptions on the desks or floor for students to read.
  • Students read the descriptions and try to pair the description with the correct sweater.
  • Afterwards, reveal the correct answers!
