If you’re looking for fun Spanish Christmas activities to do with your students, making a flor de Nochebuena, or pointsettia, with them is a great option! Teach them about these beautiful flowers with a reading scavenger hunt activity, then have them create their own with this easy pointsettia paper craft template!

Pointsettia Reading Scavenger Hunt

This scavenger hunt reading activity is an engaging gallery walk that incorporates reading comprehension, citing text evidence and critical thinking skills.

Students read a passage, then read the question at the bottom. They visit the other readings to find the answer (code word) in another reading passage until they’ve found all 10!

It also includes an escape room style challenge of a final mystery word to solve the riddle, encouraging your students to finish the task.

Students will hunt for code words from the reading passages. Just print the 10 reading passage cards, cut them in half, and hang or hide them!

Students will revisit the readings about la flor de Nochebuena multiple times practicing reading comprehension skills as they rotate around the room seeking the correct answer to the code word questions.

How to create your pointsettia:

Students color the largest flower shape green.
Color the next two flower shapes red.
Color all the little circles yellow or gold.
Cut them out.
Glue them together in the following order:
- green
- red
- red
- yellow
