    • Ashley Mikkelsen –

Hi Julie! It looks like we used this with slightly different age groups – I’ve used this with middle school and up. I wonder if that might be it? In any case, please feel free to shoot me an email with further notes on what you had hoped to see for your elementary students! My email is in the PDF download 🙂

  42. Sheila M. –

Instead of using this as a one day assignment, I gave them the paper and everyday for the last week and a half before semester exam we would look at one or two of the Christmas traditions. I loved that we could see where it was on the map and I liked the extra pictures or videos that were linked with the map. Most of my students were engaged and interested in looking at the different Christmas traditions. Great resource!

This was a fun activity to do before break! My students were already familiar with Google Earth from their Social Studies classes, so it was a great supplement to their learning. As always, Srta Spanish’s stuff is GREAT. My classes and I LOVED this activity. The Google Map was filled with great links, pictures, videos, and descriptions and we had ZERO issues opening it up. Even my students with slower internet or computer issues were able to click through the map. The questions were thoughtful and my students liked the variety. I had students click around on the map for a few minutes by themselves, we discussed the activity, I put them in breakout rooms on Zoom for a few minutes to work together, and then we came back as a class and discussed the answers and our opinions. I really liked the way this resource was set up. I think my students were a bit confused as to what to put where on the answer sheet (I need to better explain that next time). Unfortunately, our chromebooks had a bit of trouble accessing the sites sometimes – not sure why because they all worked on my computer (probably some school blocking thing or they typed it in wrong).

This was a great resource that helped my kids work independently and discover more information at their own pace.

  169. Megan F. –

My students enjoyed this resource…the product is well put together, and I like the idea of having a bit of geography going along with learning about the holidays. Some of the questions on the cute ornament side were not answered by the links in the WebQuest and some of it was more general than I would have liked, but overall it was a worthwhile purchase and a good springboard for relevant holiday cultural discussions.

  196. Jean Marie M. –

The Purísima video in the activity said it is not available. How can we fix this?

    • Ashley Mikkelsen –

Good morning! I updated that link and it should be good to go! If you had made a copy of the map you’ll need to go back to the original and make a new copy. Please let me know if you have any other questions! 🙂

  197. La zona del español –

Enjoyed this activity since the interactive map was something new that I had not used with my classes. Quite user friendly.

  198. SpanishSpot –

Awesome resource! My fourth and fifth grade students LOVED exploring this map on the school chromebook. Very well done! Thank you.

    • Ashley Mikkelsen –

I’m so glad they loved it!! Thanks for letting me know!

  199. Jennifer M. –

Would love to use this but the link is not working 🙁

    • Ashley Mikkelsen –

Hi Jennifer! I just double checked the link and it’s working fine on my end. Here are a few suggestions:

If you are copying and pasting the link, make sure there’s not an extra space at the beginning or end of a link as it can cause the link to “break”!

If copying/pasting isn’t working, try typing in the bit.ly I provided by hand to remove that possibility.

If you have further issues you can always contact me at the email provided in my Terms of Use!

  200. Senora Larrabee –

I love the use of technology to inform them about latin culture & traditions

  201. Monica M. –

    Thank you!!

  202. Mirna Groff –

Some of the videos are no longer available. I was hoping for more videos and less reading and it is the other way around. I was hoping to use it for 5th and 6th-grade classes, but I don’t think it will keep their engaged.

    • Ashley Mikkelsen –

Good morning! I just went through and double-checked all of the links/videos and they should all be fine. I have used it in the past with my 6th graders and they really enjoyed exploring! Since the readings are short and they can skip from marker to marker I found my students enjoyed reading about the traditions – quite possibly because all of the information is “disguised” in little tidbits, rather than one long handout. I hope your students enjoy it like mine have!

  203. Sarah Gaffney –

This will be a great end of semester activity to culminate our elementary unit on geography of Spanish speaking countries!

  204. Laura Shible –

My district frowns upon the idea of showing movies (even for educational and cultural value) before breaks. This looks like a perfect way to have students do some work and learn. Looking forward to using it in class!

  205. Srta Acton –
