I love Boom Cards. Wish they were editable. The type-in questions having to have perfect accents and punctuation really frustrate my Spanish 2 students. Also, the fact that when they get it wrong it gives two options for a correct answer with a comma between them, but if they type in exactly what they see on the screen there (the two correct answers with a comma between them) it is wrong. Wish I could edit these. Though there are 40 something cards, it only gives students 20 of them unless the teacher goes in to change the setting beforehand. They are randomized, so sometimes they get a harder question before they’ve had the intro question or activity. The picture for tener cuidado is confusing (looks like tener miedo) unless they have seen the easy questions first.

I’m glad you love Boom Cards! Unfortunately, Boom does not have a way to make editable cards unless you make them from scratch yourself.
Because Boom is a computer grading, I can input multiple correct responses and I do so to try and anticipate the different ways students may answer a question. For example, they might say “Tenemos calor.” OR “Nosotros tenemos calor.” This can sometimes be confusing for students because when they click “give up” they can see all of the variations I put in to make sure the word orders and subject pronoun options they could do are all accepted (you can turn off “show answer if surrender” in your settings if you’d like). It is difficult because of the computer grading – they have to get the answer just right, spelling and punctuation included, but I did try to anticipate almost every possibility they could do correctly for each of those cards! For my own students I tell them to be careful and remind them that a complete sentence ends with punctuation. There is not a way to change how Boom Cards grade those due to their system, however you could have the students skip those cards if you feel it is a better fit for your classes!
As far as customization goes, you have some options. You can hide cards you don’t want your students to see. Here’s a tutorial for that:
https://srtaspanish.com/2020/08/21/how-to-customize-decks-on-boom-learning/
You can also change the default setting on Boom. If you’d prefer for the students to do all 40 at once, you can change that from your Library on Boom. Open your library, find the deck, click Action, then click Custom Play Settings and that allows you to change those settings in your defaults.
I have updated all of the cards that had tener cuidado and tener miedo together – now they will only see one or the other at any point and that should help with any confusion in the illustrations.
I hope all of that that makes sense. Feel free to shoot me an email at srtaspanishtpt@gmail.com and I can help you further if necessary!
Thank you for your feedback!
