Review Games That Keep Everyone Smiling
When it comes to review games for Spanish class, we all know the goal is to get students up, talking, and practicing without them even realizing theyโre doing the work. Whether you’re teaching a group that loves to move or one that thrives on a little competition, thereโs something here for every class vibe. One thing Iโve found over the years is that switching up your review games keeps the engagement high. Try rotating between high-energy favorites like Running Dictation or Trashketball and quieter, brainy options like Grammar Casino or a round of Taboo with Spanish vocab.
If youโve ever had a class where Kahoot was the go-to and then suddenly it wasnโt, you are not alone. Students change, and so should our tools. Games like Quizlet Live in small groups can create low-pressure environments where students feel supported as they practice and review. For a twist, try adding in some silly team names or have students pick mascots for each group. The smiles will be real, and the language use will be, too.

Indoor, Outdoor, No Tech, or With Tech: Mix It Up!
What I love about these review games is how flexible they are. You can adapt almost any of them to fit your current setting. Teaching outdoors because the weather is amazing? Grab Jenga or Mi Lรกpiz and take it to the sidewalk. Need a no-prep option on a rainy day? Taboo or The Unfair Game is your new best friend.
For tech-friendly classrooms, using platforms like Gimkit or Blooket can make your review games feel like playtime. But letโs not forget those days when a pencil, a whiteboard, and some good old-fashioned energy are all you need. If you’re stuck in a rut, pick one game from the list you havenโt tried and give it a go this week. You might just find your new favorite!

No tech games for Spanish class are honestly one of my favorite ways to shake things up. Sometimes you just need your students to get off the screen, move around a bit, and still sneak in some learning. You can keep it super simple, things like vocabulary charades, partner speaking games, or even just grabbing whiteboards and playing quick draw. It doesn’t have to be fancy to be fun. The best part? These activities give your students a mental break while still staying in Spanish mode. Win-win.
