  1. Kelly M. –

I absolutely love these reading activities for my lower-level Spanish learners. There are vocabulary supports that allow all students to feel successful reading in Spanish. I typically tape them around the room to get the students up and moving around. I think I have purchased every set of these reading activities, and my only regret is that I didn’t buy the bundle from the start.

  2. Gabriela M. –

I really liked this activity, it not only talks about likes and dislikes but students get to practice introductions and descriptions as well. My students enjoyed this activity because they were able to apply previous knowledge and made it easier for them to comprehend the reading.

  5. Amanda O. –

I have a few of these reading passage sets, and I love them all. They might actually be my favorite TPT purchases for my Spanish classes. They’re written at just the right level to help build the students confidence in reading Spanish, and include footnotes with translations for any words that we might not have covered yet. The students are always shocked that they actually understand what the passages say.

    • Ashley Mikkelsen –

That makes me so happy to hear!! If you bump into a topic you need that I don’t have, feel free to shoot me an email or drop me a Q&A on my store. I love making these!

  9. Red Apple Studio –

These passages are perfect for beginners. They use a lot of cognates and have an illustration to go with each story. I like that the comprehension piece is in Google Drive or Boom Cards.

  19. Amanda L. –

This activity was perfect for lots of comprehensible input. I have my students read the texts in Spanish but then do the questions in English so they can’t just look for key words in Spanish and then copy – they have to do a little more thinking. Gave students the option of getting up and walking around the room to read or working on their computers digitally.

  20. Profesor Rey –

The activity met our standards for quality and engagement, providing a meaningful learning experience for my students. They loved participating in it, and it made the material more accessible and fun!

I use this as a gallery walk with 8th graders. They always seem apprehensive at the idea of reading and understanding “so much” Spanish, BUT once they get going, it is so awesome to see them read, use the notes at the bottom, consult with friend, and figure it out! I love this activity! Such a great addition!

This was a great resource to help my students practice reading in the target language. I love that I can post these around the room and allow students opportunities to get up and move around. My favorite part was listening to students be surprised with themselves they were reading and understanding!

  38. Katie E. –

This reading comprehension activity was a great way to get my students feeling successful with unfamiliar text within the context. I specifically used the google slides version. The true/false set up made it really easy to grade with a split screen.

  40. Andrea Holguin –

students were very engaged in this activity!. it was easy to understand and students enjoyed it!

  41. Karry P. –

I have this activity by Srta Spanish and the Gustar Printable story. They are both great and are reading comp activities. I like this one better in that the students are up and moving around tying to find the answers after reading all of the “stories”. This one is great for intro Spanish as it reviews much of what they learned in middle school (name, age, from, family words, activities) and the few activities that they don’t recognize sometimes have pictures or we just add them to our working vocab.

  42. Keila H. –

My students love using this resource. Thank you!!!!

  47. Amy B. –

    Great stuff!

  48. Mary R. –

These readings were perfect for my end-of-the-year Spanish 1 students. They pulled in topics the students have studied earlier in the year, such as age, self-introductions, present tense conjugation, family member names, days of the week, etc. My students could practice the skill of making good guesses from context and from words’ similary to English. Even students who don’t like to participate perked right up! I chose to use them as a reading packet, and first gave students time to try reading on their own, then we went over stories as a class. As I would put one of the these stories on the screen, students raised their hands, wanting a turn to try decoding each story. I could tell they felt proud of themselves that they were reading! Not too easy, not too hard! The worksheet that went with it was just right, too! Worth every penny of the price I paid!

  73. Just the Teaching –

The resource is good as a whole. Sadly, I think my timing in using it is what is causing me to not fall in love with it. We are currently in “hybrid” learning- for my school that means concurrent instruction. Also, my students have iPads. Doing a split screen with a Google Slide show and a Notability document on an iPad makes this activity challenging. There are so many readings/slides (not complaining, I think this would be awesome as a real gallery walk) that it is overwhelming to novice learners in our current situation. If I had to do this activity over again, I would have modified it by doing one slide a day as a warmup for two days and then cutting the remaining slides into thirds. That would have been the perfect amount of work for where we are at and their attention span. I may try to backtrack a bit to salvage what I can of the resource for this year. I do truly look forward to using it again now that I am more familiar with things.

    • Ashley Mikkelsen –

Hey Lauren! I agree that the digital version can be a bit overwhelming for novices. I’ve recently added another option to this resource that can be used for reading comprehension that I think will feel MUCH more manageable for novices. It would be great as a stand alone activity, or even if you use that first, and then try the readings and longer activities later on in a unit so they feel more comfortable with it, I think it will help a lot! Thank you for your feedback!

  74. Noemi S. –

    Loved this!
