This is great! I love the corre en circulos activities! I have used both the digital and the in-class versions and they both are great. It is nice to be able to choose what will work best depending on the class. Digital is nice to have students who were absent complete this as well or it works well in virtual/hybrid classes/elearning snow days, etc.
Sarah R. –
I love using this in the first week of the school year. Students feel confident learning Spanish because they see so many words that they can understand based on their knowledge of English. It’s also nice getting the students up and moving around the room.

The words were a little too easy but my students love Corre en Circulos. It is always great to get kids up and moving. It was an easy cognate lesson.
Ashley Mikkelsen –
Hey Susan! I’m glad to hear that your students enjoyed the activity. This is one I usually use the first week of their Spanish classes to help build their confidence so it’s purposefully pretty “low hanging fruit” as far as the difficulty of the cognate recognition goes. I’ll have to think about another level with trickier cognates! Thanks for the feedback 🙂
L B –

Tara Brown –
Hello! Thank you for this activity! I love when kids are able to get up and move around the room with purpose. 🙂 I actually forgot about this game…we played one with verbs last year, but I think it was opposite. They had to write down and find the Spanish translation, rather than English. Do you find that one way works better for your kids than the other? I think this is going to be perfect for the 1st week of Spanish 1 in the fall. Thanks, again!
Ashley Mikkelsen –
Hi! I specifically chose to have the students writing the English because I plan on doing this so close to the beginning of the year that I don’t expect them to be able to produce the Spanish words! Instead, they’ll read the Spanish word then do their best to write the English meaning, and ideally have their answer confirmed when they get to the next step of the game! I didn’t want them to be guessing at the Spanish and get a whole bunch of nonsense on their sheets. 🙂 I hope that makes sense!
Jennifer H. –
Time saver!
Ashley Mikkelsen –
Yippee!!
