I love Thanksgiving – it’s probably my favorite holiday! This Thanksgiving bulletin board idea for Spanish class is perfect for an easy activity after Halloween to have a quiet class day and ease into the season of gratitude.

During the fall season I like to update classroom bulletin boards from the back to school bulletin board display to something from more fall bulletin board ideas! You’ll love this Spanish Thanksgiving bulletin board idea because it’s a great way for your Spanish students to enjoy this time of year, think about gratitude, and (of course) practice Spanish!

Thanksgiving Bulletin Board Idea for Spanish Class

In this craftivity, students color the turkey, and write what they are thankful for on the feathers. Then, they cut out the pieces and glue it together. Of course, they can work in Spanish! When they finish, you add it to the classroom door or thankful bulletin board depending on where you want to decorate!

There is a banner for you to print and hang over the display of student work in your classroom – color, black and white, or just the bulletin board letters to cut out and place in your room. Perfect for November and a busy time of year!

Lesson Plans

You can do this Thanksgiving classroom decor craft with all of your levels! Elementary can work on their fine motor skills with the cutting and gluing, and you can differentiate for those upper levels with the language used. If you teach starter Spanish classes or upper levels, let’s talk about ways to differentiate this activity this holiday season.

For novices, I like to begin by brainstorming a list of ideas. You can help them think of their favorite things, activities they like to do, foods they like to eat, a good book they like to read, family members, friends, other students’ names, even pumpkin pie! You can brainstorm as long as you’d like until you have a pretty good sized list of ideas.

Then you can pass out the turkey craft pages. Students write something they’re thankful for on each feather, color them, cut out the turkey, and assemble the pieces. Some students like to use different colors for each feather, or they get extra creative with patterns and designs.

There are versions with the turkey already put together, as well as the turkey that requires students to cut and glue to assemble the turkey. Pick and choose what works best for your classroom!

It’s a lot of fun to see how they design their turkey! If you’d like, you can have students place the turkey on construction paper for a background, or you can just leave them as is, then hang them on the turkey bulletin board!

I love that this is a fun way to get your students thinking with a thankful heart. Sometimes they say, well, I don’t have anything I’d list, so that brainstorming is a perfect way to get everyone thinking of different things.

For more advanced students, I usually skip the brainstorming step as they don’t need as much help front loading that vocabulary. I encourage them to fill each feather with more than just a word or phrase, and instead encourage them to work on adding complete sentences or even short paragraphs.
