Description
Get your students moving with this activity! Students answer the prompt, then find the answer around the room. When they find the answer, they go to it, and complete the next prompt, repeating until they have completed the circle! Some students like to race to see who can finish the loop fastest, others work at their own pace. Students can begin at any prompt and practice, checking their work as they go. Students look at an image and write a sentence to describe it, using prepositional phrases! Images include gato, perro, sofá, and caja along with prepositional phrases!

This resource was challenging for students in a good way. I really liked it for additional practice on the prepositions.
Heather W. –
This activity got students moving and thinking. It is great practice for prepositions of location. The only confusion was whether to say “a la derecha de” or “a la izquierda de” vs. “al lado de” or vice versa. Thank you!
Gabriela R. –
My students love it, very interactive and fun material! I recommend it!
Lucy S. –
I have used this resource in different ways, and they have all been fun and an easy way to informally assess my students’ knowledge of prepositions.

SalamandraSpanish –
My students always love these “Corre En Circulos” activities! Its “scavenger hunt” feel makes even a writing activity fun for them!
Emy S. –
This activity is easy to prep and set up-I printed on cardstock and laminated so I could re-use next year ! It was a great way to get the kids moving and practicing. I also used the digital version with my distance learning students and students who were absent.
Lisa B. –
I used this resource to change up the way I teach. The students enjoyed it because they were out of their seats and moving around instead of doing wrote memorization and repetition.
Jessica F. –
What a fun way to get the kids out of their seats and practicing Spanish! Quick and easy to print and set up. I required that my students read the cards out loud as they worked so they were processing the language in several ways as they read around the room. Thank you 🙂
Carla C. –
I used the digital version as my students enjoy doing activities on their computers. It was a little challenging for them which was good to get them using their notes. Overall, students enjoyed doing the activity.

I’ve purchased several of Srta. Spanish corre en circulos activity. I ask students to start on a specific slide and work around the classroom. That way they are not clumped together. I also sometimes pair students to do the activity.
Miss T Pot –
Wow! I am currently watching one of my more reluctant to participate classes walking around looking for the dog and cat!! This is an excellent resource – even if they are struggling with the vocabulary, I gave them hints and allowed a dictionary as they worked. I’m so impressed!!
TheKinderShelf –
This was an excellent way for my students to practice prepositions in Spanish! I liked that it had room for them to write the whole sentence, and that the activity was self-correcting.
Ana S. –
Good resource. My students were extremely engaged. Mostly used with 9th and 10th graders in Spanish 1 when the concept was introduced and Spanish 2 as review.
La Patita Maestra –
This resource was really engaging, but also confusing for students. Because each picture could have two different sentences (ex: “El gato está al lado del sofá,” or “El gato está a la derecha del sofá”), I had to write clarifying words in English on the pictures to make sure they wrote the correct sentence. I also had to label the items in the picture 1, 2, or 3 based on which word started the sentence. Overall, once I made these modifications, this was a challenging but good activity for my students. I would say if the modifications were made I would change my review to 5 stars.
Eimy Jimenez –
Very good resource. I loved it and the students responded very well to it.
Dorene Milanowski –
My 7th grade students are my 2 “problematic” classes due to personalities and behavior. They parterned up and worked on this activity diligently, and were engaged when a member of admin popped in for a surprise visit. I’d use this again next year.
Ashley Mikkelsen –
I’m so glad to hear that it went well for you! Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback!
Aileen F. –
This activity provided my students with good practice reviewing preposition of place words.
Allison Y. –
I bought one of these and the students liked it so much that I purchased more. I have only used the digital version because I liked the no-prep aspect of it. I also use it as a class competition which makes it more engaging.
Meyleen S. –
Prepositions are not always easy to grasp and appreciate having this resource for my students. They enjoy having to walk around for the answers.
Melissa B. –
Corre en círculos activities really help individual students engage with the language and find out what they are and what they are not comprehending.
Angela M. –
This was a challenging task for students, but based on your class size, it might be helpful to not ues all of the cards at the same time. The cards are great, it was just a lot of movement for the number of students and space in my class room. I enjoyed this resource and will continue to use it with a few minor adjustments with my implementation. Great materials!
Ashley Mikkelsen –
Thanks so much for your feedback! Depending on class size and space, you might like using the game in one of the variations, instead of the traditional scavenger hunt style set up. I have a blog post here where I detail 9 more options:

SraDebbieB –
As usual, my students loved this Corre en circulos activity. I strongly recommend this and all others to anyone who is wondering.
Other teachers in my school see me hang these out in the classroom and always think it’s a great idea.
Mary Belz –
We use this activity once a unit and my students love it. Thank you so much!
E Whitney S. –
I was looking forward to this as an out-of-their-seat activity to reinforce preop of location, but the students found it very confusing. I think it was compounded by the fact that you weren’t always sure what the picture was eliciting. I think the instructions need some updating.
Ciara A. –
I love the corre en círculos activities. They are versatile and the students have fun trying to be the first ones to find all the answers.
Bilingual Crew –
Thank you!! I appreciate the time put into helping other teachers to create engaging resources!
Profe Plantas –
My students LOVE the corre en círculos activities! I try to include this activity in every unit when we need to switch things up. Gracias!
P D. –
Fantastic resource!
Nicholas C. –
This activity was a great way to practice with prepositions, one of the most difficult aspects of learning a foreign language. The pictures on the card were a great way to address the grammar point instead of just utilizing a English to Spanish text translation.
Sally M. –
My students enjoyed the activity and were engaged the entire time. I spread the cards all along the hallway outside my room and students had to walk back and forth. They commented that it was PE during Spanish class! One suggestion, it would be easier for the teacher to help students if there were a key with all the sentence/illustration pairs.
Kathleen P. –
Great review for before the quiz on prepositions in place. I had students work on this in partners. It worked great!
Señora Ziegler –
Great sub day plans!
Esmeralda L. –
Corre en Circulos is great to have students get up and moving, practice the vocabulary, and write all at the same time! Thank you!
Courtney V. –
Thank you for this great resource for my middle school students! We loved this!
Ana S. –
I love the idea of this resource. however my students and I were a little confused as the pictures can be interpreted different ways.
Erin Sanislo –
I love how this Corre en Círculos took the students more time to complete and fostered collaboration!
Jami Higashi Lee –
Corre en en círculos is one of my absolute favorites in person, so having an option for distance learning was great. I just had to prompt my kids with the words: gato, perro and caja and they were all set! It was more challenging than they had anticipated which was great!
Laura P. –
Corre En Circulos is my son’s favorite practice activity and this set is no exception! We use these cards as manipulatives and he likes to practice them until he can complete the chain quickly! He especially likes this set with picture prompts because he generates the description in Spanish rather than translating from English, really establishing the concept-Spanish word connection. Excelente!
Ashley Brown –
Perfect for students to master prepositions independently!
Srta Ayers –
Great! Used this as an extra credit opportunity for students before a quiz.
Katherine H. –
I used this activity to help my students practice and review the prepositions we have been working on during class. They loved running around the classroom and retracing their steps to find where they messed up. I also used it with my synchronous digital learners and they loved the activity too.
Shari M. –
I love using these activities because it gets kids up and moving. This was a great way to review prepositions and the kids enjoy running around the room. 🙂
Más Que Español –
My students loved this! Anything to get them up and moving around!
Oregon H. –
Great resource! The only reason I didn’t rate it perfectly was because for my Spanish 2 kids, the instructions were kind of unclear. After modeling how to do it 3-4 “rounds” it still was difficult for students to understand WHERE to move. Additionally, some of the prepositions were not clear. I ended up writing on the little sheets the actual preposition that the picture describes in English so that students could still figure it out. It would also be nice if this was able to be edited as some of them are not words used in my curriculum.
Lette T. –
I love these “circle activities”, this one was very good but it did have its quirks that created confusion for all my five classes. Some of the images really need to be a bit clearer in terms of what preposition are they highlighting. Also, some images don’t work quite well such as “the dog over the other dog”.
Mary Z. –
Good activity! I liked the fact that there are pictures to work with. This made it more interesting, in my viewpoint, albeit a bit more complicated for them. I think it’s a great way for them to associate the preposition with the image rather than the translation.
Karina C. –
Corre en circulos is a favorite in my clases! Gracias!
Olivia B. –
This was great practice for my students! Thank you!

Fun activity. The only thing is it takes a little time to set up so you have to be prepared in the morning!
Kaitlin R. –
Great activity! Kids were learning and having fun!
Ryan Yates –
I love this activity, however, I don’t think the word “de” goes after the preposition “entre”. Other than that, Corre en círculos is a winner! Thank you!
Ashley Mikkelsen –
You’re absolutely correct! The resource has been updated to reflect that. Thanks so much for taking the time to leave me feedback so I can fix it. Please re-download it (free) from your My Purchases page!
La clase de Sra D –
Left as a sub plan and it worked great!
Ashley Mikkelsen –
So happy to hear that! Thanks for the feedback!
Ashley Dense –
Great activity! Some of the pictures could have multiple prepositions used with them, so I wrote out which specific ones I wanted them to use so they wouldn’t get confused. Other than that, I loved the activity!
Jodi L. –
My students love these! Anything that can be made into a comptetition for them is perfect and I love the thought process involved. ¡Mil Gracias!

Creative Passions –
FYI, there are a couple of typos I noticed. I typed them in parenthesis below.
*El gato está entre (del) sofá y la caja.
*El perro está entre (del) sofá y el gato.
R Chale –
This activity keeps students moving and focused and provides great visual cues to practice estar with the prepositions. It also helps if they are confusing all of the “de— de” prepositions. 🙂
Cherin G. –
I absolutely love this game and keep buying more. Thank you!
Hola Dual Language –
