My students love grabbing one of these in a plastic sleeve when they finish an activity early. Often, they will ask if for them! I try to now keep them out on a shelf for them to access. Thanks so much for a quick and engaging word search.

This resource always is part of my introduction to Spanish 1. In the first week, we do a preliminary unit where we learn about cognates. The translation activity where students try to translate sentences full of cognates is great to build initial confidence. It’s also perfect for teaching how to use context clues for less familiar words (like para, a, etc). I use the crossword search as an early finisher activity and students can get extra credit. Sometimes, I have them form simple sentences with the words they find in the crossword!

This resource was wonderful, and I was really excited about the digital version. My only problem (and this may be user error) is that if my students tried to access the assignment from a phone instead of computer, it wouldn’t let them edit. I’m not sure if that’s a setting on the file, or a google thing. Either way, it was a great way to help introduce Spanish I to the language on the first day!

Hey Shauna! Just a note for the next time you use it – if your students weren’t using the Google Slides app on their phones, that was probably it. The Google Suite usually “bumps” you to edit things within the specific apps (Slides, Docs, Sheets, etc). So if you have students wanting to use their phones in the future, just have them download the app! I hope that helps 🙂
