 Valentine’s Day Activities! Let’s spread the Love in Spanish

Valentine’s Day is the perfect occasion to bring a little extra joy and warmth into your school activity while helping students practice their Spanish in creative ways. This holiday is all about expressing love and care, and your students will love these engaging February activities for Spanish class:

• Heartfelt Messages: Encourage students to write simple spanish Valentine’s messages in Spanish, like “Te quiero” or “Eres mi mejor amigo/a.” Use colorful paper hearts to make these messages feel extra special.

Celebrate Valentine’s Day en Español

February is full of hearts, hugs, and the perfect excuse to pull out all the pink and red. From Afro-Latino artists and musicians to activists and historical figures, there are so many stories to tell.

You can explore biographies, watch short documentaries, or highlight quotes from Black figures throughout Latin America. Invite your students to research and present a short bio in Spanish or create a classroom display that celebrates Afro-Latino culture and contributions. While it might not be a traditional celebration in Spanish-speaking cultures, Groundhog Day (“El Día de la Marmota”) can be an exciting and fun way to teach weather related vocabulary and phrases. Here are a few ideas:

• Weather Predictions: Teach phrases like “Hace sol,” “Hay nubes,” or “Va a llover” as students guess the marmot’s prediction.
