While there are certainly many more color words students will learn, I’ve found that starting with the colors of the rainbow and a few more basic colors is a great place to start in their Spanish learning journey! Spanish Short Story for Los Colores

The PDF file is a great tool for working on color vocabulary in fun ways that’s different than a traditional coloring activity! Let’s look at some of the Spanish fun your students will have while they work on this Spanish short story with you!

In the first page of the packet, the students have a Spanish colors worksheet. Students will color the circles based on the vocabulary words. Then, in the second exercise, students will label each of the images with a color word in Spanish, and color the image based on the word they used to label it. This is a great way to refresh color vocabulary before getting into the short reading!

“Sofïa y sus cuadernos” is a printable short story. You can use this story in a bunch of ways! If you prefer, you can use the whole packet at once for independent work. You can also use the story to build your entire unit around, like I explain in this blog post!

Check out the blog post here for more details on building your unit plan.

You can also mix and match your favorite reading activities to use with the story. Check out a list of my favorite reading activities here!

The final page of the pdf format file includes a short section on personal opinions to tie into the story, then a mini grammar lesson you can use to explain adjective agreement. For many students, world languages and foreign language classes are their first time encountering the concept of adjective agreement as they work with a new language! Spanish speakers do this without thinking, but your Spanish students might need some more time and input before they master it.
