Spanish Family Tree Unit

If you’re teaching a family unit, you know how tricky it can be. Family can be a complicated or painful topic for students so here’s how I decided to approach the typical family tree for students in this unit. Instead of emphasizing family vocabulary on its own, we spend the unit discussing people who are important to us in our lives.

Here is a short list of the included vocabulary:

el abuelo/la abuela
el compañero/a de clase
el compañero/a de equipo
el compañero/a de trabajo
los deportes
el equipo
el entrenador/la entrenadora
la familia
el gato
el hermano
la hermana
la hija
el hijo
la escuela

As you can see, there are plenty of family tree vocabulary words, but there’s some expansion for other areas and connections in student lives, too!
