If you’re working on days of the week vocabulary with your Spanish classes, there are several ways you can teach them! While you might introduce them and help students gradually acquire the language, sometimes the time frame you have for a unit or pacing guide in a district is short. In that case, you might practice vocab with these Spanish days of the week games!

Spanish Days of the Week
Here are the days of the week in Spanish:

They translate:

Let’s look at 10 Spanish days of the week games!

These digital task cards hosted on Boom Learning review days of the week and months of the year vocabulary in Spanish. Students will:
- listen and write the word they hear
- listen and put in sequential order
- fill in the missing day or month
- complete the phrase to describe the following day (“Mañana es..”)

Corre en Círculos Spanish Scavenger Hunt Game

Corre en Círculos is one of my all time favorites to get students up and moving!
Here’s how to play this game:
- Students can start at any page around the room.
- Read a prompt at the bottom of a starting page.
- Record their answer to the prompt.
- Find their answer on the top of a new page.
- Look at the prompt on the bottom of the new page, record their answer, then find the next sheet.
This continues until students find the prompt that leads them back to where they started (that’s why I call it ‘Círculo’)!

Teaching Spanish Days of the Week
As I mentioned at the beginning of this blog post, there’s more ways to teach this vocabulary than with review games! Here are a few more ideas you can add to your lesson plans:
Calendar Talk

Calendar Talk is part of my favorite way to start Spanish class. Here’s a quick overview:
This routine is short, but it’s to the point. Since it is done every day, students get very comfortable with the vocabulary, including days of the week! Learn more about the start of class routine in the blog post here!

- Listening activities practice a range of different skills, from recognition to comprehension! Great for novice learners! Both script and recording options included!
*One of the recordings is not a native speaker, one is a native speaker from Spain. - Use the Running Dictation activity to have some fun movement-based practice with the story.
