FREE Activity for Thanksgiving in Spanish Class

I love Thanksgiving and November. While I often use Thanksgiving to focus on themes of gratitude with students, sometimes it’s just fun to do something seasonal and a bit silly with students, too. I recently created this FREE activity for Thanksgiving and wanted to share it with you today. You can print it and use it right away, or it would make a great emergency sub plan. Here’s a look at the FREE activity for Thanksgiving and some fun ways you can use it in your classroom!

Add a Little Laughter with Language

Sometimes the best way to keep students engaged during November is to sprinkle in something playful. This FREE activity for Thanksgiving lets students be creative while reinforcing key vocabulary. Think of it like sneaky learning, with turkeys. Whether you teach middle or high school, students always love anything that lets them personalize, color, and talk about their choices in Spanish.

One fun twist? Have students pair up after completing the activity and describe their turkeys to each other without showing the paper. Their partner has to guess which turkey it is based on the description. It turns a solo task into an interactive speaking opportunity and keeps the focus on vocabulary for clothing, colors, and descriptions.

Individual Review Activity

Students can complete this FREE activity for Thanksgiving individually as a review for clothing and colors vocabulary. It is designed for students to work independently. They can sit and work quietly as they color and then describe the turkey they designed!

Station Activity

This is truly a print and go resource! That makes it a perfect fit for an easy station or center activity. Add it to a set of stations to review clothing or colors vocabulary for a low stress day as you’re planning. Students – yes, even high schoolers – love to sit and color.

Printable Activity for Thanksgiving as a Fast Finisher

Since this is a print and go, no-prep for you, activity, it’s super nice to have on hand for fast finishers! Sometimes you just need something for a few extra minutes before the end of the bell, or for a student who finishes a ¡Corre en Círculos! activity quickly. They’re great for those awkward schedule days (pep rallies, assemblies, fire drills, etc.) when you don’t have time for a full lesson, but you still want students to be productive. If you’ve got a half day before Thanksgiving break, this is perfect for your plan then!

Use It for More Than Just a One-Off

Even though it is labeled as a FREE activity for Thanksgiving, it has way more flexibility than just one class period. Use it to anchor a review day, support your sub plans, or fill those unpredictable class periods before a break. You could even turn it into a hallway display or mini class contest where students vote on the most creative or accurate designs.

Another easy win? Incorporate a few writing prompts after students complete the turkey task. Have them write three sentences about their turkey in Spanish using target vocabulary. Or ask them to write a mini dialogue between two turkeys talking about what they are wearing for a big Thanksgiving dinner. It is a playful way to extend the learning without extra prep.
