Check out these Black History Month bulletin board ideas for Spanish class for the perfect way to celebrate! These bulletin boards are more than just decoration and they go well with different activities, too!
Black History Month Bulletin Board Ideas for Spanish Class
Let’s look at these educational resources for middle school and high school a little more closely!
Black History Month Bulletin Board Report Posters
These research posters have an emphasis on Afro Latinos with this list, but the research posters also include a blank template for your students to write in other people they’d like to research, with your approval! They might want to learn more about Rosa Parks, Harriet Tubman, Maya Angelou, Barack Obama, Martin Luther King Jr., or George Washington Carver. There are so many famous African Americans to choose from!
As Black History Month is celebrated through the United States, they may have already learned about some of them, so it’s nice to give students a choice and explore a topic of interest to them. Maybe they did an in-depth project on the Underground Railroad as a younger student in elementary school social studies class, but now your high school students are interested in learning more about the civil rights movement as they’ve heard about in their history classes, or other historical events. Choice is a great way to increase buy-in and makes a huge difference in student engagement!
When finished, these research projects make a great bulletin board. Check out the example shared below or see the post here on Instagram!
Interactive Bulletin Board for Black History Month
If you’re looking for an interactive option for your Black History Month bulletin board, you will love this collaborative poster project from La Profe Plotts! This Spanish collaborative poster is a great team-building activity for your students, and you can also use the finished poster to decorate your classroom, door, hallway, or school! Having students work together towards the common goal of creating a poster will be a wonderful experience for them.
It’s also a great addition to your Black History Month lessons as students can read about each of the notable figures included on the poster in Spanish or English. This poster includes the following Afro-Latinos:
- DJ Jigüe
- Don Omar
- Edgardo Armando Franco
- Epsy Campbell
- Esperanza Spalding
- Gwen Ifill
- Jose Celso Barbosa
- La La Anthony
- Mariano Rivera
- Maritza Correia McClendon
- Ozuna
- Rosie Perez
Your students might recognize some of them, but if they don’t, that’s okay! It’s great for them to learn more with this interactive board. Here’s how it works:
- Print the posters
- Students will each color one square of the poster
- Students cut out each square
- Use the included guide to put the pieces together like a puzzle
- Hang them on a bulletin board, your door, or wherever you would like to decorate!
