If your students are working on high frequency verbs, one of the most important verbs is the Spanish verb ser! This is something you might work in right away as students are working with subject pronouns, or maybe they’ll just see “es” before any of the other verb forms. Either way, let’s look at some ser worksheets for your middle school and high school students!
Present Tense Conjugations of the Verb Ser
The present tense of the verb ser is conjugated like this:
- yo soy
- tú eres
- vos sos (Latin America)
- él es
- ella es
- usted es
- nosotros somos
- vosotros sois (Spain)
- ellos son
- ellas son
- ustedes son
While you might introduce the ser conjugation forms all at once in a conjugation table, you might also choose to just introduce a few at a time when they come up in your stories depending on your preferred teaching method. Either way, when learning Spanish verbs ser is one of the foundational verbs for students to learn!
Different Uses of the Verb:
- identifying people or objects
- time and date
- location of events
- descriptions
- origin
- profession
- relationships and possessions
Ser means “to be”, but it’s a bit more nuanced than that with some subtle differences between using ser and estar. Use of the verb ser takes plenty of time and repetition for students to master.
Spanish Verb Conjugation Worksheets
If you’re looking for traditional worksheets to practice the different conjugations in your lesson plans, here are som options for you!
Basic Introductory Worksheet Set
Help your students practice present tense ser & adjectives vocabulary with these print & go practices! These are great review worksheets for Spanish physical descriptions vocabulary. The first two pages are fun and silly, having students work on using the form of the verb ser and describing animals in Spanish.
Then, students can work on the “Yo También” writing sheet. Your Spanish students read & mark “Yo también” or “Yo no” for each sentence describing the person. Afterwards, they will re-write the sentence on the line, changing it to describe themselves.
Next, they’ll play a roll and write game! Roll the dice 2 times to identify the subject and the adjective. They will record their rolls, then write a sentence in Spanish based on what they rolled. There are different versions of the worksheet to include different adjective options!
Mi Lápiz Review Game
This is one of my all time favorite review games. It is so easy and is always super fun! Students just need a worksheet each, one pencil per group, and one die. They’ll roll the die to attempt to steal the pencil from each other, and race to finish the worksheet first. Learn more about how to play here!
Bump! Speaking Game
Bump! is a fun, low prep review game that gets students speaking in a low-stress way. The materials needed are probably already in your classroom!
Materials Needed:
- Game board – make enough copies for pairs of students
- 1 die* per pair
- A set of markers per player. These should be different colors. Mini erasers, manipulatives like these, or even just squares of construction paper in different colors work great!
Note: If you don’t have dice, there are free “roll a dice” pages online, or even printable dice you could use instead! Here’s a website that popped up when I googled it, but there are many out there to choose from.
I love using dice so I have a bunch I keep handy. Here’s my favorite way to store and use them with students:
My set is very similar to this one!
Now that you have gathered the materials, here’s how to play Bump!
Instructions:
- Players take turns to roll the die.
- They say the correct subject pronoun – either out loud, or written on a mini whiteboard – according to the number rolled.
- Then, they cover the correct word with one of their markers, covering the larger text.
- If another player has covered that form, they can “bump” that marker off, and put their own in its place.
- If the word is covered by one of the players own markers, they can put another marker on top and they have won that space.
- You can only bump if there is only one marker on the space.
- The game ends when all of the spaces have 2 markers on them.
- The winner has the most markers on the board.

Are you familiar with sudoku? In this Spanish puzzle version, students fill in each row, column, and box with the different forms of the verb ser in the present tense. This set of Spanish worksheets includes a puzzle for ser and a puzzle for tener!
Spanish Scavenger Hunt Ser Worksheets
Corre en Círculos is a great way to get students working with vocabulary and grammar while you get them up and moving! Students can do the scavenger hunt solo, in pairs, or in small groups! I let them choose and students always sort themselves as they work through the game. Visit the blog post here to learn more about this review game and grab a printable freebie to try out with your novices!

Present Tense Ser Maze Worksheet
I love maze games for practicing Spanish vocabulary and grammar! In this lesson idea, students find their way through the maze by choosing the right answer on the path. They repeat those steps to find their way through the maze.
For example, if a box reads, “Ashley _____ de los Estados Unidos.”, they’ll follow the path that says “es” because the subject of that sentence is the third person. They’ll repeat that, step by step, until they “escape” and get to the end of the maze! This is such a fun way to gamify Spanish grammar as students work to pick the right choice and follow each correct answer out of the labyrinth.
How it Works:
- Print & make copies, or assign the digital activity on Google Slides
- Students read the question in the first box
- They choose the correct answer and follow that path through the maze
- Repeat until they get to the end
Along the way there are purposeful dead-ends in the maze. This is a great way to encourage critical thinking and makes these sheets self correcting as students have to retrace their steps until they find the correct answer. This worksheet is a great option for independent work, or even an interactive quiz. An answer key is included, too!

Los Dados Board Game
This is probably the lowest prep option of the Spanish conjugation games in this list! Print off the board game, then just make copies. Students roll a die to move their game piece, then roll for which subject pronoun they’ll conjugate for. Boom!
This is one of my favorite print and go activities. It’s also great to have on hand for fast finishers. There are two versions of the game! One with ser and adjectives and one with ser de and Spanish-speaking countries.
Scrambled Sentences
Scrambled sentences are a great way to get your students thinking and talking about the language collaboratively! Groups or partners work together to reassembled the scrambled sentence while working on the verb forms and emphasizing adjective agreement.
This set of activities includes instructions on how to use this game, and a few variations for you as well. One variation is a quick review that will take about 15 minutes, the other version can take up to 40 minutes with in-depth critical thinking about syntax and word order! On the worksheet, students write the Spanish sentences on each line, and in the subsequent blank sentences are translated to English to check for understanding.
Find Someone Who Spanish Speaking Activity
Spanish language learners need opportunities to speak with each other in low stress ways. Find someone who activities are one of my favorite options for speaking with novice and intermediate students! In this human bingo game, students get up and using their Spanish.
They try and find others to fill out their sheet asking each other questions, but each student can only sign another’s paper one time! There is also a follow up written activity for students to write sentences using the information from their classmates in the third person.
Vocabulary Includes:
- alto
- atlético
- artístico
- bajo
- bonito
- castaño
- cómico
- creativo
- delgado
- estudioso
- fuerte
- guapo
- inteligente
- interesante
- paciente
- pelirrojo
- rubia
- serio
- simpático
- trabajador
When students complete their sheet, you can go through them together as a class and check who they got in each box with a quick show of hands!

Color By Conjugation Worksheets
If you’re looking for a great resource for your sub plans, color by conjugation worksheets are a great fit! These printable one-page worksheet reviews verbs by having students color the different verb forms according the to key. It’s very similar to color by number, but they see the verb forms written out instead of numerals!
In this set, there are three different color by conjugation sheets included to practice the forms of the verb “ser”. This is a great option for after a quiz, a calm review day, or with a sub! The vosotros form is included on all three sheets. They’re a great general practice to keep on hand!
