Tabata Timeline
Tabata Timeline is one of my favorite Spanish class reading activities with a twist. Students read and sequence events, but rotate on a tabata timer. Learn more about how to set up this lesson here!
Reverse Running Dictation
You are probably familiar with Running Dictation at this point, but have you tried out reverse running dictation? As you might guess, it’s very similar to running dictation, just with a little twist! One student reads a sentence in Spanish, other student runs and finds the matching image, then reports back. Learn more here.
Read and Screenshot
Read and Screenshot is a great, LOW energy lesson, but it’s just different enough to keep up the engagement. Write Spanish sentences that go with a video. Students grab screenshots of the video to illustrate the sentences. Boom, done!
Mi Lápiz
Mi Lápiz is one of my favorite Spanish class games to play because it requires NO set up. If you have a worksheet, some dice, and pencils, you can play this game. In short, students race to finish a worksheet while their competitors steal the pencil from them. Learn more here
¡Corre en Círculos!
This is my all time favorite way to practice a skill and get students moving in Spanish class. Print the sheets, hang them on the walls, and let your students go! Plus, there’s a few other ways you can expand on the clue sheets once you have them printed, in case you want to stretch the activity a bit more. Learn more here
Scavenger Hunt Readings
This is kind of like a twist on a gallery walk and ¡Corre en Círculos! in one engaging Spanish reading comprehension activity! Students read the passages hung on the walls and have to find different code words in the other readings around the room. When they finish, they’ll unscramble letters from all of their code words to solve a final riddle. Check them out here!
Fortune Tellers
These fortune tellers from La Secundaria are a great way to combine childhood fun and Spanish practice. Students ask and answer questions using the fortune tellers or cootie catchers they’ve folded. Learn more here
Sonidos Secretos
In this sneaky speaking practice from The Engaged Spanish Classroom, one student listens to music with headphones in, the other tries to get them to say the sentence from the card. It is a HOOT! Learn more here
Blind Kahoot
This one will absolutely throw your students for a loop if they’re used to playing Kahoot as a Spanish review game! Use Kahoot to introduce new concepts to your students through Blind Kahoot. Learn more here
Roll a Story
If your students are comfortable with story telling and high frequency verbs, you will love this writing activity for secondary Spanish class! Students roll a die to determine the different elements of their story, then use their creativity to fill in the blanks. Learn more and grab a free download here!
